An Evening with Fresh In Your Fridge is coming up! Join us next Tuesday, February 25th from 6:30-7:30 PM as we learn more about how food is one of our greatest tools.
🍎
Hippocrates said “Our food should be our medicine and our medicine should be our food.” What most people don’t realize is that your diet is part of your healing process and that’s why we’re excited for Erika from Fresh In Your Fridge to share some valuable info on this topic next week. She will guide us through how to plan your meals and effectively prep for your weeks, providing strategic tools for your weeks and months. She will share some healthy recipes with us, and do some taste-testing – there will be food to enjoy at this event! 🙂

From a chiropractic perspective, a healthy diet is important as it impacts the following:
Nervous System Function:
· “Good nutrition helps to create health in all areas of our existence as all parts are interconnected.”
· The self-preservation of the human body prioritizes the brain as #1 amongst our organs, therefore our body will use whatever resources are available to keep the brain functioning. So, if your food is of poor quality, the building blocks used to repair and maintain your brain and nervous system will be poor quality.
· Neurotransmitters are also key: as food provides building blocks for the physical structure of the nervous system, it also provides the pieces for the molecules necessary to pass messages between nerve cells.
Bone and Joint Health:
· Let’s imagine you are building a house and you found out the builder used lesser quality materials to build the necessary framework needed to actually hold up your house. Very likely this would be a cause for concern. The same idea applies to your skeleton and joints. Having good delivery of the needed minerals to help build, repair and maintain the foundations of your body sets a good platform for the functions of your body.
Inflammation:
· Myth: inflammation is bad. Truth: too much inflammation is bad.
· When we look at how the body repairs and heals, we see the inflammatory process the body uses. Issues arise when the inflammatory process becomes overactive, or active over a long term. Over time, chronic inflammation has been linked to more complex health issues. By having a baseline understanding of how foods and nutrients work, you can modify your diet to target and better regulate chronic inflammation.
Someone once said “those who don’t find time for healthy eating will sooner or later find time for illness.” Good food is about so much more than having the odd kale salad or a bit of lean protein every now and then. It is about taking care of yourself with good habits, which come together to promote health. Don’t get us wrong, healing of our bodies still comes from inside out, but if our bodies have the best “building” materials available, it can make the healing process more effective.
